I am a sales representative for Leaf Filter and I would like to comment on your post. First, we would have never came to your home to give you a quote if you hadn't invited us.

We are certainly not trained to "put down" competitor's products but we do show you how we are better.

We do assume that you are looking for the best gutter protection available. Most people want to shop around, so we try to provide as much information as possible while we are there so that you are ale to make an informed decision.

We should never tell you that our installers are employees. They are factory trained and work strictly for Leaf Filter installing the Leaf Filter gutter protection system, gutters, and some fascia and soffit work.

There are times that we do have jobs in the area fairly soon after a customer purchases Leaf Filter. We are a very large company and we attempt to install as quickly as possible in order to keep the jobs moving.

If we have the available crew and you want the installation done, why not get it installed right away? Most customers see this as an advantage.

There is a "set price per linear foot" but there are many variables such as height, size of gutters, miters, any extra work such as trimming back tree limbs, fascia replacement, soffit replacement etc. Just as you can purchase items at the department store at full retail price or sale price, we do offer promotions and attempt to make our product affordable as the opportunity arises. We always start at the full retail price because it is the actual price of the product, services, and warranty.

That price is good for one year. From there, depending on how soon you would like to install, we will look for any available incentives or discounts that we can. There are times when we may have a commercial job in the same size/color that you would want installed on your home. In this case we do not mind billing your project out along with the commercial job in order to give you bulk pricing and save you money.

When the manager is called, it is truly to find out if there is a job available to do so. If a rep puts the manager on speaker when this call is made, it is most likely so that the customer doesn't feel that it is a fake call. We attempt to be as transparent as possible. All sales reps have business cards and we do provide Leaf Filter apparel and badges.

I apologize if your representative did not use these items. Representatives are 1099 employees and do use their own vehicles as is the case with the majority of home improvement companies. A lot of times our discounts are cash only discounts because as we all know, credit cards charge 3% to 5%. When we get into commercial pricing, we simply do not have the ability to absorb the cost that the credit card company will charge us.

Again, we attempt to be transparent. This is the same reason that a lot of convenience stores require a minimum purchase in order to use a credit card. We are rated as the best gutter protection by consumer reports as well as bottom line secrets, the fact that we share that with a potential customer isn't a negative. We take great pride in our product but we also realize that if you have 50 gutter protection companies out, you will have 50 that will say that they are the best.

We simply show you the consumer reports review so that you can sift through the sales pitches and see what an extremely trusted 3rd party source found when they tested. Again, we try to be as informative as possible. Again, we wouldn't be in your home if we weren't invited. The fact that you had us out leads us to believe that you have issues with your gutters and are looking for a solution.

When we arrive, we do expect the customer to have an interest and we also realize that it will usually always come down to price. When we see that you do indeed have issues that need to be taken care of and that Leaf Filter will resolve, we do our best to make our product affordable. Gutters that aren't working properly can cost far more than the price of Leaf Filter if left alone. If it seems that we are pushy, it is probably the rep realizing the urgency of your issues and conveying that to you.

A lot of consumers do not realize the importance of gutters and the role they play in protecting your home. Some even remove the gutters completely. We have found that it is necessary at times to remind customers of the urgency and this may come across as pushy. You should not have been told that we invented micro mesh technology.

We didn't. We simply used it to invent an extremely effective gutter protection product. We do use 50 year silicone. It is a very important part of the service that we provide.

Most gutters are sealed using a caulk of sorts that will start to allow leaks within a year or 2. The use of 50 year silicone is unheard of in the gutter industry and sets us apart from anyone else. We do not see telling you the value of the service we provide as a negative. I'm not sure how you "could tell" that he had no experience with gutters or roofs but we do provide extensive training.

Our representatives are commissioned which is a common practice in home improvement. I'm not sure if you ever had a professionally installed gutter system installed on your home but I am 100% positive that the rep who sold you that system was commissioned as well. It is simply a way of paying them for their work and again, isn't a negative. It sounds like the rep that came to your home was trying a bit too hard and was quite possibly new to the company.

Was the "sob story" just a conversation or a way of trying to get you to purchase Leaf Filter? No offense at all but it seems that you were looking for a negative in every move he made. When we come in to do a presentation we do bring a kit that includes competitors products as well as ours. We want to be able to show you what is available and how it compares to Leaf Filter.

Again, the fact that we are there leads us to believe that you are at least somewhat interested in what we have to offer. It is our job to provide beneficial information to you. This can take up some room in the kitchen/living room etc but we will never leave a mess and are always attempting to help you make a decision. Did you tell the rep that he was interfering with your dinner time?

If you agreed to the appointment time, we have no reason to believe that you haven't set aside the time needed for the appointment. However, it is not our practice to be rude. Our reps cover a large territory. This may include a long drive time.

This is not an inconvenience to him or to you. It is our job. We take every opportunity seriously because we are a respectable company who values our customers and potential customers. In closing, it sounds like you went into this appointment with a judgmental attitude, expecting to be "taken" by the rep.

He may have been new or even a little pushier than most. But please remember that he really is trying to make a living. If any company you have ever worked for stopped being able to provide their services or stopped making a profit, the paychecks would stop. We have thousands of very happy customers and while I apologize for your experience, it is in the extreme minority.

Our happy customers out number our unhappy customers 700 to 1. In this case, I do not believe that you were considering the product. It seems that you were simply observing what you felt was a pushy sales pitch.

we were scheduled for an install for Nov. 1st and the salesman picked the date and said they would be out at 7 am.

This was scheduled for a sat. and I asked him twice because we wouldn't get up that early on our day off but he said that is when they would be here. Well needless to say they never showed up and never called.I called sat and got an answering machine that says they are closed and I left my information someone called me back on monday at my home number and asked me my name and number and said they would call back. lol they called me from the information I left why call to get the information gain and say we will call you back.

No calls so I called for a manger which hey told me there wasn't anyone just the person who schedules.He said he had no reason they why they did not show up. After seeing the complaints I am glad they didn't show up I will fine another company.

I have unfortunately used the LeafFiler North recently. Here is my review about this company:

I am greatly disappointed by the product and the company’s service. LeafFilter North has not completed what was promised in their contract.

1. Downspouts not cleaned and realigned. The contract specified they would clean and realign all downspouts. They attempted only one (1) of sixteen (16). Their website (Gutter Guards | LeafFilter) specifies that installation will include “Step 2: Clean and Realign Downspout.” After partially attempting to clean one downspout, they advised that the bottom was blocked and they simply didn’t continue. Their promise was not completed.

2. Homeowner Inspection Certificate not received. Their website specifies their final step is “We will walk the perimeter of your property along with you to inspect the completed work and to answer any question or concerns you may have. You will then receive our Homeowner Inspection Certificate that guarantees a satisfactory installation.” They did not complete this inspection with me so I did not get to approve the installation. I would not have approved if I had been given the chance. I have never received a Lifetime Transferrable Warranty

3. Subcontracted Company and no response to complaints. LeafFilter was not the company that came to install the product. I was never told that they would use another company to do the job. If I knew I would not hire them. I called the day of the installation to complain that the job had not been completed properly. My first call reached a LeafFilter salesman JB, but he hung up on me. My second call reached a regional manager. He promised that he would personally come to check the work. He did not show up at the scheduled appointment time. He called after the appointment time had passed to reschedule. He did not show up for that appointment either. There was no call, no explanation after that. LeafFilter North has not followed through on their promises.

4. Improper installation. The product was installed poorly in comparison to the workmanship promised on their website and promised by the salesman. There are gaps between the guard system and the roof. There is damage to the roof in several places. They made poorly measured cuts to the fascia board exposing the wood to the elements which will cause rot. Please see the attached are photos of the poor product installation on my property.

5. Product failure. The system has not worked. I’ve since found another customer complaint that echoes my experience: “I know the guarantee says "nothing but water" in the gutters, but it should say "Not even water" in the gutters.” (LeafFilter - Redmond, WA | Yelp) LeafFilter gives a “lifetime guarantee” but their installation was never completed properly so the system didn’t work from day one! The promises and claims of this product and the LeafFilter company have fallen short. Attached are photos that show how the leaves sit on top of the gutters to block the water get into the gutters.

I have come to the conclusion that I have spent $13,509.59 on a gutter system that was installed improperly by a company (through a subcontractor) that has not responded to my complaints. I am devastated to discover that the company, their product and their promises are fraudulent.

i bought a Leaf Filter system in 2009. Spent over $5K on the system. Last weekend we had a windstorm that blew a branch off of a tree in our yard that damaged the gutters. Called Leaf Filter for repairs. I was told "Sorry, our nearest repair facility is 3 hours away, and it is too far. We can't fix your system, OK?". I told them I was not OK with this, that I had spent over $5K on the gutters and you won't even stand behind them to fix them?

Avoid these guys at all costs. The filter system works but if you can't get them fixed why spend the money on an unsupported system? The system is very expensive, and the sales folks are very pushy.

I called their 1-800 number and they were more than willing to come out to install a new system on my house. What the heck is that about?

Do NOT buy this system!!!!

The SALES people are rude with high pressure sales tactics. If you ever did a time share sales presentation it is of the same school of demeanor.

Making you fell bad and *** if you do not buy form them right then, there and now. Elderly neighbor had product installed had few issues with product mesh separating from plastic base after 1 year. But product worked well when it did not come apart. Could of been just bad installation or bad batch of product.

I wanted to give it a try but with the high pressure sales tactics giving it to me for "1/2 price if I purchased today" turned me off as shaky conniving people. Was very rude when we repeatedly told sales rep no. I say look elsewhere for other micro mesh products manufactures.

It is good technology just bad company.

When I had bought the house a couple months ago I noticed that water was overshooting the gutters. At that time Gutter Helmet was already on the house.

I had put in a request into HomeAdvisor.com looking for contractors to fix the issues we were having. I was quickly contacted by LeafFilter. Even though we were not interested in another leaf guard type of product, we listened to what they had to say. The sales person took measurements and went over his sales spiel.

After an hour, I had to interrupt and just say that I wasn't really interested(he was indicating that it would cost around $6K) in a product that wouldn't fix the issues we were having. He then reassured me that it would. He also was trying to sell the idea of how great this micromesh technology is. Even though later on I found out they used different mesh in certain areas.

He stated they also would remove the Gutter Helmet system, clean the gutters and fix any gutter alignment and leaking issues(You can see the contract at the end of the video). I had a quote for essentially the same thing without the LeafFilter system from another contractor for around $300. So after some negotiation, I was able to get that and the filters for a bit under $1000. At that point it seemed reasonable.

During the sales pitch he kept explaining how they use their own employees for installation and it’s all about the quality of the installation. I actually think the crew that came out were subcontractors... Anyway they came out a couple days later. Unfortunately, I was at work so I had to rely on my wife to keep tabs on the installation.

When they were done I told her to check to make sure it looked OK. She did not notice the gutter still hanging the wrong direction and of course couldn't see the areas where the Gutter Helmet came off. The installer did not mention any problems elsewhere. So she went ahead and paid them for the supposed completed job.

They did not leave any card or contact information. When I got home that evening, I immediately saw the dent to the gutter above near the garage area. I forgot to mention that I asked the installer to replace some of the rotten fascia. This was one of those areas that they did that.

This dent is only cosmetic and should not affect the function and the fascia install looked fine. It was then I saw the rear of the house and the pitch of the gutter did not look correct. I thought it may be the angle that I am looking at it. The next couple of days it rained and I thought I would take a peak at how the LeafFilter was working.

To my surprise, what I saw was worse than before this product was installed. In the front of the house, there was now water coming between the gutter and fascia. In the rear water was leaking from the end of the gutter(the one that was pitched wrong) and the corner piece. In addition I was now seeing water dripping through the soffit vents all around the house.

I can only think that it is coming through the shingles where the Gutter Helmet was removed. I took some pictures of these issues but it was night and hard to see. The next day I immediately called the corporate service number(The only number I had was from the contract from the sales person). I was told they would put in a ticket to the local office here in Virginia, which is in Fredericksburg.

A couple days later I was contacted by that office and explained what was going on. They said they would let the installer know(I think his name is Mike) and that he would call me to schedule the appointment. A couple days later when I was at work, the contractor shows up with no call or appointment. I was at work but luckily my wife was home.

She had us Skype and I pointed out some of the issues. He seemed courteous and professional to me. He explained that most of these issues were probably already there and I didn’t notice but that he would take care of it and make it right. He said he would be back the following day when we were expecting rain to see for himself and would be back on the weekend to make the repairs.

Those days come and go and he doesn’t call or show up. The next week, I place another call to the service number to follow up. Once again they said they would let the local office know. They would not give me there number to talk to someone directly.

That was two weeks ago and I have yet to hear back from anyone. We are disappointed in the lack of professionalism and follow through we have received from this company. We are now having other roofing and gutter contractors come take a look and estimate how much it will take to remedy the situation.

At this point, we do not want LeafFilter back to cause more damage. This review is only to notify others that even though a product may be good, if it is not installed properly, it is not a good product.

i hAve had LeafFilter on my home for about 3 years now and my dad has had it for also a year now and it seems to work perfectly fine on my house. I have called in a service request twice since I have had this on my home just to have them come out and clean my splash guards.

they have also seemed very professional and courteous to me and my father. I do have to spray off the screen once in a while but that is a lot easier then cleaning all that trash out of the gutter

I had the complete opposite experience in Philadelphia. A salesman named Rob came out.

I was having 3 companies come out. Leaf Filter, Leaf Guard and Gutter Helmet. He showed me all 3 products. He went over the process and how all 3 worked.

I used my common sense and went with Leaf Filter. I had a coupon and he offered me another small discount to earn my business. No pressure. I paid a fair price, he was on time, professional, and extremely knowledgeable.

He also wasn't the cheapest.

He earned my business. He deserved it and I am happy with the product.

We are so sorry we spent the money for these waste of time screen. Our leaves, pine needles etc just sit on top of the screens and the rain just runs off the top rendering our gutters completely ineffective.

We have complained multiple times, asked for a removal and refund to no avail.

So far they have come out twice to clean off the top of the gutters. We are getting Up in years but my husband still has to get on a ladder and clean off the screens to make the gutters effective.

Don't make the same very expensive mistake.

Been a nightmare ever since. Spent the last 2 years trying to get them to correct the problems only to be told we have to climb on the roof to clean them off a couple times a year!?!

they have people there who don't have any experience at all don't know an A elbow from a B elbow and hire contractors with no experience and take $1500,00 dollars from there pay incase of service work..........now would you want a company like that doing your gutters

they also charge way to much for there product and are not fair in there pricing at all a lot of the contractors just put it up cut corners and hardly ever repitch when necessary believe you better off just having to clean instead of spending 1000s of dollars on your gutters

Gave me a quote of $2900 for 120 feet of Leaf Filter. I have no corners, all straight runs on top of brand new gutters.

I said no way, it would be cheaper to have my gutters cleaned twice a year. He then dropped his price to $2000 if I signed on the spot. I told him I wanted to get more prices from other companies and confer with my wife. He said the price was only good that day.

He stormed off then screeched his tires as he sped away. I now have a roofer who is giving me simular gaurds for $950.

I have written and tried to contact Leaf Filter concerning a serious overflow problem causing black mold and mildew on the cement deck below. Due to the incorrect angle of the gutters they also collect leaves in the Fall and oak fronds in the Spring which have to be manually removed.

I have a large home with two levels of gutters so the job was very expensive. I received a Warranty but when I tried to contact Leaf FIlter with a letter of complaint it was returned saying "moved...left no forwarding address"

Their website also did not respond. Buyer Beware!

Highly unprofessional, rude and full of lies - Including Sales Rep and Installation Crew. They kept making appointment, did

not show up or cared to call to notify. We kept waiting, missing our work. Its been three months the job is still not complete, even our repeated phone calls and requests. Every time they come up with new lames escuses and lies. Our gutter problem still persists not to mention because of their lousy incomplete work our basement starting flooding. Sales rep had promised to not to charge a penny if we are not satisfied. Forget about those lame excuses they did not even call to apologize. We are contemplating to take legal action against the company. We had to pay for cleaning and other items we lost due to water damage in basement.

I PURCHASED LEAFFILTER IN 2011. WORKED GREAT UNTIL NOW .

I CAN CLEAN THE FRONT BUT THE BACK OF HOME IS TWO STORY. I PURCHASE LEAFFILTER SO I WOULD NOT HAVE TO GET ON A LADDER. THE COMPANY WHO INSTALLED IS NO LONGER IN BUSINESS, SO I AM OUT OF LUCK GETTING THEM CLEANED UNLESS I WANT TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. SO MUCH FOR LIFE TIME WARRANTY.

YEA THE GUTTERS ARE CLEAN BUT THE SCREEN IS CLOGGED .

ITS A LIFE TIME WARRANTY AS LONG AS THE COMPANY WHO USES THE LEAFFILTER SYSTEM IS STILL IN BUSINESS WHEN YOU NEED HELP.. SAVE YOUR MONEY CHEAPER TO PAY SOMEONE TO CLEAN YOUR GUTTERS.
