Let the company propose a solution

The Leaf Filter representative stated that the product was guaranteed not to clog. However, my system often overflows due to the system clogging as a result of leaves and debris accumulating on the surface.

When I called the company, I was told that the system requires periodic maintenance, and that they could send someone out for $145. Had I known this initially, I would have selected a different product. The company should not state that the product will not clog, when in fact, it does. This is a bait and switch tactic that is unethical and should be illegal.

I have also submitted this information to the U.S. Department of Commerce as reference.

Technically speaking, your warranty probably covers the clogging of the INTERIOR of your gutters.

If the screen/filter that is covering your gutters happens to clog...oops.

But, what are the odds that a super fine filter would clog with small items like shingle grit, polen, moss or pine needles?

Give it some time. Mother nature and the wind should get those clogged filters working likity split in no time.

If not, just give those filters a solid cleaning or power washing a couple times per year.

I've read through many of the reviews on here and have to say, I find it amazing that so many "customers" have had such a bad experience. Our experience went very well. While the price was higher than we were expecting, the installers did a fine job and the system has been working well now for 8 months. We live in the mountains of Pennsylvania and our tree coverage is pretty extensive.

We've tried a few other products in the past and all of them required my husband to get on the ladder in the fall. We wanted something that was maintenance-free and so far LeafFilter has done that for us.

I was told by the salesperson that many of the reviews on this site were actually falsely crafted by competitors to confuse buyers. I was not so sure at first but now that I've had LeafFilter and I read these reviews, I'm starting to believe that many of the reviews on this site are false. The reason we bought was because we read the confirmed customer reviews on Angies List (about 28 real reviews in my area) which gives them an A rating.

If you look at the company's facebook there are a flood of 5 star ratings and reviews from leaffilter employees or family members.

If customers won't post good reviews, just make up your own.

I too have leaffilter and it works great.

Except for roof valleys and areas where leaves and pine needles fall.

It's great on areas where my gutters are straight. But the water runs right over the leaffilter...doesnt go in the gutters...where my roof has corners, valleys and an addition.

Im getting a lot of areas where leaves and pine needles accumulate and rain water just flows right over.

But its great where I dont have trees

I love these anonymous people who are getting more creative. The company will come see to any of these issues if it occurs.

My uncle has it on his cabin and they have been out to see to a specific area that was having an issue.

No one comes on here and leaves a *** review like that...

they get it fixed by the company who backs the products performance for life.

This website is so worthless. I wish they would check the validity of the reviews.

Have you not read they are the 9th Largest remodeling company in America? Have you not read they are by far the largest gutter protection company in America? I would not have invested thousands if this was company going down and out.

I am an advocate for the truth and I'm so sick of the lies on this website not just for LeafFilter but so many other good companies. This website is mostly false reviews and it sickens me.

Sounds like a phony bashing of leaffilter north ...by a competitor,,, Leaffilter is CONSUMER REPORTS #1 RATED SYSTEM..I have many friends with Leaffilter on ther home and are completely satified with this product .

If you check the consumer report study you will see that all gutter guard companies are in the same price range ,,,I did .So i chose the #1 rated.

They called promptly in 3 days and we set app.

Went to a home show and saw their display. Said they would give a free estimate and wife gave out phone number.

Saw all the negative reviews at home and what other were charged and decided no way. These people have called here 32 times - 2 times a day on one number and 2 calls a day on another toll free number. I have Panasonic phones that record #s received and block calls.

32 calls and counting - does this sound like a company you want to deal with? I can play their game blocking calls, but I'm sure going to let others know, Can you imagine how what these people would be like doing work for you?

I don't care to have someone bug me and constantly ring my phone now 34 times. I didn't think much of the salesperson at the home show and I knew right away it was a mistake our phone number was given out.

If I don't care to call someone back or answer my phone, that is my choice. I don't pay phone service to respond to every *** who rings my phone to sell something.

As far as my spacing and punctuation, I made a few edits and they didn't show up as I wanted to and you don't see them as they will display until you click "Post Comment". Pay attention to the message and don't be such an *** yourself. Are you from Leafilter?

Salesman came at our request for quote. Quote was higher than we were willing to pay.

The sixth quote allowed a monthly cost of $78 monthly for the first year then we would pay it off with no interest fees. The credit card bill came from Wells Fargo Home Projects (we didn't know it wasn't financed by them but hadn't actually asked). The monthly bill was $136.92. Considering that is nearly $59 more than our signed contract indicated, we contacted LeafFilter.

The only reply was the salesman was new. They were unwilling to work with us or do anything to uphold their contract so we disputed the claim. All documentation was provided to Wells Fargo. We learned one of LeafFilter's documents was even altered but because the selling price was what was quoted we were told "the terms are correct as being billed." I am still confused how terms are correct at $59 more per month BUT here is the rest of the story...

we have large maple trees which produce many seeds. Those seeds being in our gutters were what prompted the purchase. Not only is it an unpleasant job but being on a ladder trying to rid the gutters each spring is not particularly safe. The attached photo shows our gutters this past spring AFTER LeafFilter installed their product.

The gutter protection accomplished nothing as the seeds had to be removed from off the gutter protection. This photo was sent to LeafFilter - no response was received. No response was received after speaking to the owner or manager regarding the incorrect monthly charges we DID NOT agree to and no response was received despite numerous attempts to get all of this resolved through LeafFilter without disputing the monthly charge amount or the fact the gutter protection didn't provide what was intended.

This is a VERY disappointed "customer"... I wouldn't spend any money for the so-called gutter protection LeafFilter installs.

I believe your story. However Leaffilter themselves always likes to point out that these reviews are left anonymously and are therefore bogus reviews left by competitors. If you want to do researchers a favor, then alway leave your name to make the review more credible!

To start, they have their employees get on these sites to talk up their product in hopes it will outweigh all the negative remarks. They do this on Facebook as well.

In reality the product shouldn't be purchased. The screen holes are too small and everything gets caught in or on top of it, just causing water to overrun the gutter. Don't tell them this though, because they refuse to give a refund or take any credibility on any of this.

They simply answer with, "well your gutter is clear isn't it?" Well yes it is, but if the water is going to flow overtop of my gutter and "Leaffilter Guard" I could have taken my gutter off and saved $4,000+. DO NOT BUY or listen to their sleazy salesmen.

Don't get me started! Worst company I've ever dealt with.

We've had problems since the first time it rained after installation 2 years ago. Terrible customer service, water now runs OVER gutters instead of into them. Their advertisements and presentations claim it as "Surgical grade mesh that NOTHING will stick to." Nothing but lies and false claims. They don't show up as scheduled (when you're lucky enough to get someone who seems interested in helping you).

Now, their last subcontractor showed up with a ladder and a broom, climbed on our roof and said "Yup, it's clogged! You just have to come up and sweep it off a couple times a year". That's NOT what we paid for!

We spent all that money to have this installed to not HAVE to get on the roof. What a waste of money.

Full disclosure, this post is from a competitor who thinks consumers should research what they are buying.

1. Warranty.

Check the warranty. Leaffilter guarantees that the interior of your gutters will not clog but offers no guarantee that their screen will not clog.

Their product completely covers your gutter. Of course nothing will clog the interior...it's covered by the screen. But when the screen clogs (as many complaints indicate) then water will run over.

2. Consumer Reports.

Leaffilter claims to be the #1 rated gutter guard by Consumer Reports. Look it up yourself. Google "consumer reports gutter guards". Gutter Glove was rated substantially higher. And Consumer Reports had negative comments about all pro installed systems.

3. Misleading posts on this site.

Leaffilter claims that negative comments are from competitors and that they know this because they "checked the IP addresses." IP addresses are not published with reviews on this site.

Another review from Raleigh states that Leaffilter North installed on their home 10 years ago. The company has only done business in Raleigh for 5 years.

Someone is posting erroneous reviews on this site to make Leaffilter look better.

Bottomline. Buyer beware and please do your research.

I paid what turns out to be an obscene amount of money some years ago to have Leaf Filter installed on my home. I have been moderately happy with the L.F. system, it keeps leaves out of the gutters but in a moderate to heavy rain the water runs over the gutters and onto the ground.

Recently I had my roof replaced and the roofers messed up a section of the L.Fs. creating very small gaps in some of the covers. Everything worked normal but I was concerned bees or something may find their way in there. I called L.F. to get an estimate and was told the area manager "Matt" will contact me. No call. After some time I called again and was told the same thing. Matt then called many days later stating he was busy. We set up an appointment and Matt turned out to be a no call no show! I waited a week for him to contact me with some excuse but he did not. I then tried to contact him but no return call. I told L.F. "I am through with Matt, is there anybody else I can talk to". The operator told me the manager "Scott" will contact me that day. No calls from the manager but Matt called(the person I said I did not want to deal with anymore). He sent an employee to measure the area who then put me on the phone with Matt who told me he would give me an estimate "today or tomorrow at the latest". No estimate! 2weeks later Scott(the manager) called me. He clearly did not have any measurements from Matt because he asked me how much of the gutter system needed repair. I told him to ask Matt for the measurements. Scott then "pulled out my file" and gave me as estimate of $1950.00 to fix the one section of L.F. system with small gaps in the covers! Scott couldn't understand why I wouldn't set up a appointment for repair! Scott never apologized for Matt and when I explained why I wasn't happy with the Leaf Filter company he became aggressive with me so I hung up on him.

Poor employees stem from poor management. Poor managers stem from a poor company.

BTW I repaired the section my self. It cost me about $17.00 and took about a half hour of my time.
