I was not pleased with the installation of their product and cancelled the transaction within 3 business days per their contract and they charged my wells fargo account a week after I cancelled the transaction. Shingles are curled upwards and can see the roof decking at the ends of the roof where the leaf filter is pushing the shingles up.

Customer service is bad and have no local number to contact the company. Beware of this company. They are on Angies list and have contacted Angies list and complained about this company. The Governor's office of Consumer Protection is next step as well as an attorney.

Plan on going by their office Monday and see if they want to settle this matter or if further steps have to be followed. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Did not have to. They gave me a full refund and removed their product.

I cancelled their contract within the 3 day period allowed by law and their contract. They didn't like it too much either

The life expectancy of the system is less than two years. Wind has lifted the system out of the gutters; requiring re-installation's of the system.

The mesh covering has totally disintegrated allowing the perforated plastic to clog with leaf debris. We had the leafilter gutter protection system installed on her house in 2002. The installation was poor and unacceptable. When I requested an authorized leaf filter dealer to review the work; I was told it would cost an extra $1365 to fix the shoddy installation.

No end caps allowed birds to nest and clog my gutters. The system was put in upside down in some places.

My installation by Leaf Filter NW was March 08. Pollen and mildew plugged the famous micro screen so the screens turned out to be a wonderful gutter cover.

I called NW and they came out and cleaned the screens. They came out twice and told me just call when it happens again.

Well, they are gone with the wind and the company that has the Seattle area, Leaf Filter N, will not honor NW's promise. Could you imagine buying a Ford from a dealer that goes out of business and you find that your warrantee is not honored by another ford dealer?

My next rant will be to the Washington State Attorney General. Leaf filter should be thrown of the state before someone else gets ripped off!

LOVE STAYING OFF MY ROOF. GREAT PRODUCT!! SNOW AND ICE HAVE NOT EFFECTED THE LEAFFILTER WHAT SO EVER. IT WORKS MUCH BETTER THAN THE HELMET TYPE OF PRODUCTS THAT CLAIM THAT NOTHING WILL GET IN YOUR GUTTERS.

WHAT A BUNCH OF *** THAT IS. PLUS THE INSTALLATION UNDER THE SHINGLE VOIDS THE WARRANTY ON YOUR ROOF. I AM VERY IMPRESSED THAT LAST MONTH INC MAGAZINE LISTED LEAFFILTER AS ONE OF THE FASTEST GROWING COMPANIES IN THE COUNTRY.

we were scheduled for an install for Nov. 1st and the salesman picked the date and said they would be out at 7 am.

This was scheduled for a sat. and I asked him twice because we wouldn't get up that early on our day off but he said that is when they would be here. Well needless to say they never showed up and never called.I called sat and got an answering machine that says they are closed and I left my information someone called me back on monday at my home number and asked me my name and number and said they would call back. lol they called me from the information I left why call to get the information gain and say we will call you back.

No calls so I called for a manger which hey told me there wasn't anyone just the person who schedules. He said he had no reason they why they did not show up. After seeing the complaints I am glad they didn't show up I will fine another company.

The SALES people are rude with high pressure sales tactics. If you ever did a time share sales presentation it is of the same school of demeanor.

Making you fell bad and *** if you do not buy form them right then, there and now. Elderly neighbor had product installed had few issues with product mesh separating from plastic base after 1 year. But product worked well when it did not come apart. Could of been just bad installation or bad batch of product.

I wanted to give it a try but with the high pressure sales tactics giving it to me for "1/2 price if I purchased today" turned me off as shaky conniving people. Was very rude when we repeatedly told sales rep no. I say look elsewhere for other micro mesh products manufactures.

It is good technology just bad company.

Every time they come up with new lames escuses and lies. Our gutter problem still persists not to mention because of their lousy incomplete work our basement starting flooding. Sales rep had promised to not to charge a penny if we are not satisfied. Forget about those lame excuses they did not even call to apologize. We are contemplating to take legal action against the company. We had to pay for cleaning and other items we lost due to water damage in basement.

For decades, my husband had been lugging out the ladder to clear the 2nd story gutters of pine needles and those stringy things that come off of an old oak tree that we simply refuse to have taken off our property. About 10 years ago, he installed some chicken wire mesh that he suspected would help him out with the larger debris that comes off the trees, i.e. leaves, pine cones. While they worked for a brief period of time (meaning they reduced the amount of debris), they never totally eradicated the problem. As we were walking through a street fair three summers ago, we saw the LeafFilter system on display. We spoke to the woman who was representing the company and she took our information. I remember receiving a call from them either the next day or the day after that. The salesman arrived at the scheduled hour and we decided that it only made sense to buy a Consumer Reports #1 rated product if we were going to invest thousands into our gutters.

This summer, my neighbor was expressing her concern to me about her husband who is now 67 years old risking injury climbing a ladder to do the unpleasant chore of cleaning the gutters. I recommended Leaf Filter and she called them out. She also signed up for the system, BUT her husband who is a little more frugal than I am, went looking for every excuse to cancel the project before the scheduled installation date. He brought this website to her attention, and she immediately called me in a nervous state to ask me if I had experienced any of the things mentioned on this site. Obviously, I would not recommend Leaf Filter to her or anyone else if the system did not work. After reassuring her for what seemed like a conversation that took forever, she got her husband to end the requests to cancel the project. They are now experiencing the freedom of not having to worry about their gutters anymore. Thanks again, Leaf Filter.

While I had already reviewed them back in 2011 on more popular (and more reputable) review sites, I felt compelled to leave an in-depth review of my experience with this company, which has been nothing shy of everything they assured me when I met with the salesman. While I am not of the computer generation, I can appreciate how much information is readily available on the internet about companies, their people, and their products. Call me crazy, but when it comes to things like these, I rely on more credible sources like CONSUMER REPORTS and the Better Business Bureau. If I entertain reviews of people who "own" the products, I at least make sure its on a site like Angie's List, where reviews are verified.

Anyone second guessing him/herself like my friend's husband did, allow me to recommend you looking at your regional BBB for a complaint history on the company. Presently, in NJ (where I live), Leaf Filter has only 1 complaint in the past 3 years. That says more to me than anything I read here when I consider the hundreds, if not thousands, of customers who have probably bought the system in that time period.

COMMON SENSE, PEOPLE !!! And keep in mind that no one throws stones at the tree that doesn't bear fruit.

Excellent point. Reviews on this site are anonymous and get no resolution or follow-up.

A really credible review would be posted on a different site.

1) With the BBB

Filing a complaint with the BBB will force a resolution.

2) With Angie's List or Home Advisor

Similar to the BBB.

3) Post a review on the company's Facebook page These reviews can't be deleted or removed.

4) Credit Card Company Dispute the charge. 5) Attorney General If people had real complaints they'd go to one, or all, of the sites above instead of posting here.

Shakela
#1037674

Who do you think pays the BBB? Sure isn't consumers.

It's the businesses they promote. Ask a lawyer. Of course you're not gonna see the worst reviews. BBB was useless for me.

I did check them out first. What a mistake all the way around.

Glad your system is working for you. Not so for the thousands of the rest of us across the country.

1. LF advertises that any leaves or debris will be blown on the next breezy day. Doesn't happen as most of the debris does not blow off.

2. Just brushed off all gutters with the long handled brush they gave us. It rained yesterday and we still are getting overflow which messes up windows and flower beds. In reading some online complaints it may be the my LF screens are clogged with pollen or something else.

3. The original installing company has gone broke and the new company won't take any responsibility.

4. After the installation I found out that If I have my cedar shake roof treated again the Leaf Filter screens will have to be removed and then reinstalled to prevent the treatment oil from clogging the screen. Estimated cost $400-$500.

These problems make me wish I had not spent the $7000+ to install the Leaf Filter system. Instead I could have just continued to have my gutters cleaned 2-3 times a year @ $140 each time.

I went with LF because of the strong rating with Consumer Reports. However I think Consumer Reports did not do testing with tree debris added to the test.

I will contact the home office for Leaf Filter next week. If I get no help from them I will register a complaint with Washington State Attorney General office and/or the Consumer Protection office.

Just after we had the Leaffilter system installed we started to have problems-water cascading over 3 corners in any kind of rain and water running over regular parts with just a fine coating of pollen. It took 3 weeks and several phone calls to finally get someone here to look at it.

When he finally showed, he explained he had been on the job only 2 weeks for our installation, training was terrible, and he thought he could fix it by adding splash guards and sloping the product and admitted these should have been done in the first place. We had no confidence in this individual. Attempts to get assistance from our sales person (left) and installation manager (in that job for a week and kept on insisting we stick with this installer) were nothing but frustrating.

Costly mistake from which we will learn! We hired a company with its own employees to replace this system ASAP before any more damage can be done!

I worked for Leaffilter North of Michigan. As a ritual every morning the Operations Manager (Rick Mosby) and the installation Manager would sit down and try to figure out how to get people that were refusing to pay because of a badly installed job to pay.

We went to Florida for a Company Trip and I was physically assaulted (Pictures to follow) I was beaten within an inch of my life by the two officers CHRIS COUNAHAN (vice president of sales) AND JOE ROSCHIVAL(vice president of installation) and the Charlotte, NC Operations Manager Beah Leahy. I will be posting videos of this on you tube and have also sent them to several News Channels in which some have contacted me to interview next week.

MATT KAULIG (OWNER) refused to do anything about the matter and forced me to resign, I am currently in the process of suing and will follow up on progress along with you tube videos. BUYERS BEWARE!!!!

I am also an old employee of Leaffilter and I know Joe R. personally as well as owner.

That are both amazing men & I do not believe for one moment that Joe would have abused a person like that. As for owner Matt he is a super nice guy and he does care about his customers as well as employees. They did not grow the company this large this fast by treating employees and customers like ***. While working with the company I handled customer complaints and Matt would always make sure that his customers were happy and well taken care of.

I’m writing to express my regret at ever having LeafFilter work on my home. I will take a few minutes and detail my experience.

After attending the Everett Home and Garden Show, I contacted LeafFilter for an estimate. The sales rep came out and gave his sales pitch. He measured and came back in with an estimate. I couldn’t afford to have my whole house done. I chose to have the front gutter (my biggest problem area) and two short gutters in the back that weren’t installed correctly fixed and fitted with LeafFilter.

The sales rep informed us that our house didn’t have rake metal installed and without it our roof/eave area would become compromised over time. We would end up with lots of damage that would need repair. He said that LeafFilter can remedy that by installing the rake metal for an additional $600 when they send out their team to install the LeafFilter system. Our total bill was $2516.11. The approximate start and completion date was March 20,2013 between 12 and 2 pm.

On March 20 after noon, a man (not a team) shows up from LeafFilter and starts work on the house. He doesn’t leave until after 6pm. He had completed the front gutters, started on the two short gutters, and started on the rack metal. The weather was horrible and he was fighting it every step of the way. He was also fighting with the rake metal that he was given to install. To install the rake metal the installer was taking out at least the last nail on every shingle to slip the rake metal in all around the house. To my untrained eye the rake metal didn’t look correct and I wasn’t thrilled to see all the roofing nails coming out. It appeared to be too wide. He said it was and he had to cut about 3 inches off all the rake metal to fit it properly. He called the installation supervisor. He was on speakerphone so he could keep working. The person he was speaking to said to cut it down and make it work. He came back the next day and worked under similar conditions. He ran out of rake metal. He called and again told the installation supervisor that the product he was installing wasn’t correct. It must have finally got through to the supervisor because he told the installer to take every piece of rake metal out that he had installed and he would have to come back with the proper rake metal another day. We stopped him when we found that he was pulling it out. Part of the job was that he installs the rake metal and use a 50 year silicone to seal it. The installer had yet to silicone anything and he was pulling out what he had installed. We didn’t know when he would return and all of the shingles where he had slipped the rake metal in were not secure.

I called the sales rep and asked for help in getting this resolved. The sales rep told me that he had been informed that the sub-contractor they hired to do the job wasn’t doing what he was supposed to. I let the sales rep know that what he was saying was incorrect. I have nothing but admiration for the installer. He was working alone, in horrible weather, attempting to install something that was incorrect.

I let the sales rep know that I wasn’t “happy” at the thought of every shingle on my home exposed. The sales rep assured me that everything would be fine. It would be completed the next day. The next day was Friday, March 22. It snowed. I didn’t expect anyone to show up and no one did. I called the sales rep to ask when someone could be scheduled to come out. He said that Saturday, March 23 was going to be clear and someone would be out. We stayed home because we needed to be here. No one showed up. I called the sales rep on Monday, March 25th. He wanted to schedule someone to come out that week. I let him know that wouldn’t be possible because our schedule was full. (We shifted everything we had planned for the 21st, 22nd, and 23rd to the week of the 25th.) I let the sales rep and the supervisor know that the only day we had open in the near future was Monday, April 1st. They agreed to that day. On the 1st, a man shows up, a different installer. I introduced myself and filled him in on what had been done to that point. He told me that he was told that to finish this job it was going to take an hour and a half. I apologized to him and laughed because I knew that it was going to take longer than that. Four hours later, he comes to me and says that he has another job he has to go to and that he would be back to finish up. He didn’t return on that day. The installation supervisor called me asking to set up another day when they could come out. I was taking the week off for vacation to do personal business and maybe get away for a couple of days with the family, but because this had been dragging on for so long I just wanted it done. I apologized to the family and let the supervisor know that they could come on Thursday, April 4th. He assured me that the work would be completed. He said that he would be out and work on the job personally. He said that he would be here at 9am.

On the 4th at approximately 9:40 am he appears. He introduces himself and gets to work. A little after noon the installer who had been here on the first arrives to help the supervisor. They took all the rack metal that was wrong and removed it. They put in the new rake metal. They pulled out more nails. When I asked if they were going to replace them, the supervisor told me that the whole roof was installed improperly. He said that we needed to get a roofer out and look into replacing the roof. They finished the job at approximately 6pm. I saw them put silicone on but I couldn’t see where it did any good.

I contacted two roofing companies. I was told, by professional roofers, that the only thing wrong with my roof was the fact that LeafFilter took out nails that didn’t need to be removed. I was also told that the way my roof was done the rake metal was not needed. I let them know how much I paid for it was told that IF I felt the need for rake metal they would have installed it properly for half the price. They would have also referred me to a reputable gutter cleaner that would have come out and cleaned all of the gutters (which LeafFilter said they would do and didn’t) for probably more than 10 years at the price I paid for the LeafFilter system that I had installed. We needed to get the roof fixed. The roofers told me that all the shingles LeafFilter worked on needed to be re-nailed. They also let me know that some of the shingles LeafFilter messed with were curling and needed to be secured with Henrys’. I paid the roofers to re-nail. I will have to get on the roof myself to secure the curling shingles when the weather gets warm enough to seal them.

I contacted a home inspector and had him come out to look at something in my attic. In his inspection he asked why we had rake metal. I let him know the story and he also confirmed that it was a waste of money.

I am a woman in her fifties raising two children with the help of her elderly mother. One of the children and my mother has health issues. I work full time and with everything I have to do I look for anything that will help out and ease the burden. I feel that I was taken advantage of by LeafFilter. I do like the gutter system but I don’t like the fact that I got sold on something I didn’t need (the rake metal). I question the knowledge of Mr. Plante and the installation supervisor. I’m just glad that I wised up and hopefully will take a step back and look for other options before I spend the money in the future.

Would I recommend LeafFilter? No. Have I told people about my experience? Yes.

As an update to my original post. No one from Leaf Filter has bothered to respond to any of the comments I've made here or elsewhere.

I have roof shingles that are curling because Leaf Filter didn't do a thorough job on their installation (not a surprise).

I will have to climb up on the roof and fix it since I can't afford to have someone come out and do it for me. I'm not looking forward to doing that.
