Decided to get a quote from leafFilter. When I scheduled the appointment, I told the person that because I work out of town, my wife would be the one they would meet, but that I could be contacted by phone.
The salesman (Jason R) showed up as planned and took measurements. Afterward he talked to my wife about pricing while I listened. He got very persistent ad pressuring her to make a decision. I told him I would have to make the decision, and that it would be made later that night.
He told her that the quote would only be good until 9am the next morning, and after that it would go from $4800 to $6700. The salesman did finally leave with the assurance I would call him the next morning. When i finally got home late that night and saw the paperwork i was appalled and the lack of professionalism. He left no business card to say who he actually worked for, the paper he wrote on did not give footage, or even my name or address.
It looked like a 9 yr old had wrote it. I called him as promised the next morning around 8, only to get a voice mail. He did call me back around 930. I told him I was disappointed at his lack of professionalism with the estimate, and also my displeasure over being pressured to sign when I was unable to compare with other companies first.
He had already trashed other companies to my wife when he was at my house, so you know how that went. He finally ask what i needed him to do for me, and I said make the quote stand for at least 5 days. He said I would have to talk to his boss. I ask who his boss was, and he said Chris.
When I ask for the phone number, he responded by saying "Look It Up". I did look it up and called. I was told Chris was not in. I left my information and ask for a return phone call.
I have not gotten one. It makes me wonder, as it should everyone, that when you get a quote for services and goods, and are not given time to compare, then the company may be sketchy and are gouging you. As I am a contractor, I know I have to have 3 prices on everything I buy.
I do this at home as well. me.salesman verysalesman
User's recommendation: if quote is not good for at least a week, be cautious.
Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.
